Plants + intention

Nia means intention in Arabic—the basis of all healing pursuits and the truth that lives in our hearts. It's also the name of my first child, my daughter who now exists in the everlasting garden after spending a brief 8-month lifetime here on earth.

When I want to feel closer to Nia, I visit a garden. Every time I walk through nature, I feel alive with pure energy, receiving a message: share plants with people. Show them how plants can help them connect to themselves and how a person holds all their answers in their heart.

I'm inspired by the land I was born on and the land Nia rests in—Malawi, The Warm Heart of Africa. Through Nia Botanica, I connect artisans and farmers to a global market with direct trade, and our donations support female farmer groups working on watershed resilience in rural communities.

Your support helps me work every day with Nia. Your support helps me say her name every day. Your support helps me feel purpose in my ever-quivering heart. And I pray that Nia has something beneficial to offer back to you and your heart.

In the depth of my grief, plants became my anchor. Their properties, their quiet presence—they gave me a line to hold onto when I felt lost, a path back to shore.

I was grateful for all I'd learned: my Ayurvedic training in herbs, the land-based wisdom shared by Indigenous peoples on the West Coast, and my deep connection to the earth in Malawi.

Plants were symbols of curiosity, hope, beauty, and possibility. And finally, again, I started to feel hope.

I began to blend. To experiment. To trust my intuition. Tea became my ritual—a way to slow down, to connect, to be present.

And I realized: if plants could anchor me, they could anchor others too.

This is why Nia Botanica exists. To offer you that same line—a gentle invitation back to your own well-being.
